🗓️ Date: March 20th, 2025
📍 Location: IUNAT Research Institute, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC)
👥 Audience: ~40 participants (mainly early-career researchers)
🎤 Presenter: Prof. Rafael Robaina (ULPGC)
As part of the Annual Research Conference organised by the IUNAT Research Institute, Prof. Rafael Robaina was invited to present the I3-4-SEAWEED project as a case study of collaboration between academia and industry. The event provided a valuable platform to highlight how the project is bridging the gap between scientific research and the practical development of sustainable macroalgae-based solutions.
During the session, Prof. Robaina introduced the project’s mission to develop high value-added products from macroalgae through innovation, circularity, and cross-sector collaboration. The talk emphasised how marine biotechnology can offer viable, nature-based alternatives in areas such as agriculture, food systems, and cosmetics — aligning with I3-4-SEAWEED’s goals of advancing the blue bioeconomy.
📚 The event specifically targeted young researchers, making it an ideal opportunity to raise awareness, foster engagement, and inspire future collaboration between scientific institutions and private-sector stakeholders.
ULPGC’s participation in I3-4-SEAWEED continues to strengthen the project’s scientific foundations while promoting knowledge exchange across Europe’s research and innovation ecosystem. 🌊🔬
